ONELINER

My music video involves a child growing up learning to let go , forgiving ,accepting her past trauma and healing her inner child and sharing her healing journey throughout the music video almost trying to talk to / reach her younger self. 

SCRIPT 

SCENE 1 

Time; daytime  

Setting; room

A little girl is peaking through her bed room door when she gets scared closes the door and while resting her body against the door she sits down tired and sad she grabs her iPad puts on her head phones, wipes her tears plays music and buries her head in her hands.

On the opposite side of the room a girl is standing looking at the girl with pity she walks towards the girl and sits right behinds her, she tries to comfort the girl by resting her head on the little girls shoulder but the little her vanishes leaving the girl all alone the girls puzzled but then she feels something on her neck and realises shes wearing the headphones ( both girls are the same person it symbolises that the girls inner child is hurting and isn’t healed ) the girl takes off the headphones but then puts them back on gets up walks towards the curtains in the room, she ties up the curtains to let the light in ( symbolising growth and healing ) then the girl looks at the camera and sings “ It just hasn’t hit me yet the older I get” the girl turns her face the camera follows and the scene ends.

SCENE 2

Time; daytime 

Setting; room

As the camera pans the room kind of changes it becomes more childish with toys , pens , paper and crayons are scattered on the carpet in the middle is the little girl she's drawing her family with red faces to symbolise anger she crosses the faces and the second drawing is of a family with pink hearts symbolising her ideal family that she wants. The camera pans after showing the drawing and stops at the girls pink shirt.

SCENE 3

Setting; wardrobe 

After the camera pans, the 3rd scene starts with a pink duster covering the screen to create a transition, the older girl is cleaning but then she finds the drawings her younger self made she starts looking through the drawings one by one and two drawings will represent some of the lines in the lyrics then after going through them she's proceeds to put the drawings away in a box. (representing the closing / ending of a chapter) the scene ends with a fade out transition.

Setting; room 

Scene 4 starts with a fade in transition, on the floor there’s a black box which is opened by an adult pair of hands the box contains a bunch of pictures of the girl the hands pick up the pictures and slowing starting pasting the pictures with tape on the wall in an random order. During the golden hour. The scene ends with a fade out transition.

Setting; room 

Scene 5 starts with a in the older girl is sitting she take of her glasses ( it symbolises relaxing) she fixes her makeup with a fluffy brush (it symbolises self love & fixing things ) gets up walks to her bag and grabs it in a hurry.

SCENE 6 

Time; daytime 

Setting; park 

The scene starts with the older girl walking in the park to a bench she puts her bag down and sits on the bench she looks tired looking into the distance she starts zooming out. 

And then her zoned out pov is shown as a montage after a few shots including landscapes rides in the park are shown and a little girl is playing and enjoying herself on the rides after that a semi transparent version of the little girl walks up to the older girl and the little girl rests her head on the older girl making it a full circle moment and giving the girl closure and then the girl walk out of the park closing this chapter for good.

I decided to story board my music video so I could have a visual idea of how I wanted my music video to turn out

For the cast and crew I needed 4 team members 2 actors, 1 editor and 1 camera man I was personally producing and directing the music video .

LOCATIONS

For my music video I needed 3 locations I need to film in a park, in a room and in a wardrobe. 

Park

For shooting the out door scenes I need a spacious park with slides and swings so that the character in my music video could play and enjoy themselves. 

Room 

I wanted a brown beige room for music as it would fit my colour palette. I decided to remove the swing to match the script and vision better.

Wardrobe 

I need a wardrobe that would have a brown aesthetic so it could fit in with my colour scheme and this wardrobe was perfect for that.

REHEARSAL 

We decided it would be best to rehearse a few of the scenes before the official shooting to have a better understanding of what angles we wanted and to make our vision for the music video. 

We did rehearsals on 17th December 2024.

COLOUR PALETTE 

I want the music video to have a relatable , homey, yet cold feel so for the home and down to earth feeling ill be using brown and for the cold to represent trauma ill use ice blue and to represent the relatability and warm ill use sun light (yellow) and ill also make it more cinematic .

LIGHTING

For the lighting I wanted natural lighting only to make my music video look cinematic , since my music video shows the raw and authentic side of the characters I felt like artificial light would not fit the over all theme of the music video. We had to work pretty fast and had to improvise with the angles to catch and make as much as we could with natural light we had. 

COSTUME & MAKEUP

Child Character 

Makeup 

For the child character to make the girl look young I only applied moisturer to plump up the skin and blush to make her look youthful. 

Costume 

For her costume the character wore a pink hoodie & pants to make her look childish. 

Made my characters also wear glasses so they look alike the younger character wore circler glasses to make her look younger. 

Adult Character 

Makeup 

I kept the adult character makeup natural but used contour, higher blush placement, a darker but natural lip and a little bit of eyeshadow to make her look older but still natural. 

Costume 

The adult character wore brown dress and a hijab to make her look more mature and older. 

Square glasses to give the adult character a more mature look.

Acting and performance 

I had 2 characters acting in my video both characters went through many emotions like distress disappointment sadness.

Sadness

To show sadness I wanted my character to cry a little for that we used eyedrops. 

Disappointment 

Zoned Out 

My character was zoned out and thinking of her childhood memories and to show that my character was zoomed out the character put her head in her hand and stared into nothingness.
