Pop music dives into the ups and downs of relationships, capturing the relatable emotional roller coster people experience in friendships ,romantic relationships or just emotions we experience day to day. the lyrics validates the listeners emotions and make them feel less alone.

The song I choose for my main music video is "Older" by Sasha Sloan and for my preliminaries I choose "Friend Like Me" by Rachel Grae , "Wild Flower" Billie Eilish and “Gasoline” by Chymes are from the pop music genre. The songs follow a similar theme talking about the complexities of relationships we form as we get older and exploring the outcomes of relationships.

The music video of East Side has amazing yet really humble story telling it explores little cherish able moments . It’s a nostalgic portrayal of childhood friendships growing up and maturing. I was really inspired by the storytelling in the music video and decided to incorporate some of the story telling elements into my music video.

“Pity Party” by Melanie Martinez is a song that shows a toxic one sided relationship trapped in a cycle of pain and happiness. It’s about toxic one sided friends that are never there for you when you need them. It creates a deep emotional and relatable bond with the listener. At first I was going to use Pity Party song for my music video the lyrics and the deep meaning behind them inspired me to create my music videos around this topic. 

Happier by Marshmallow

The song “Happier” is about a situation where the relationship has ended but the bond still remains. It’s about getting older , letting go and personal growth it has great story telling as well. The colour grading, acting and story telling in the song Happier really moved and i decided to incorporate these elements into my main video. 

NARRATIVE

The narrative in my music video is nonlinear narrative, my events are presented out of chronological order  I used flash back and switched between showing my character as a child and an adult.
In my music video my character is constantly getting flash back and in my music video sometimes the past is shown and sometimes the present to successfully show the older and younger versions of my characters life .

REPERSENTATION

In my music videos i decided to represent people that grew up having a bad relationship with their parents leading to unhealed childhood trauma that they end up carrying into adulthood which leads to the main character having bad relationships with people in their life.
